Near Disaster

Nothing I had planned for dinner worked out. We had guests and I planned to cook roast beef, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. The roast was still rather frozen and I didn't have enough potatoes.
I was going to do pork chops but the pork I thawed was cubes. I rolled with it and made pork, broccoli, and pea stir-fry with a ginger sauce.
To go with it we had a salad totally from my container garden (lettuce, chives, and tarragon) along with some of the cheddar onion bread from the bakery downtown.
Dinner was really good! Well, except for the broccoli and peas being over cooked.
While my husband put the Duck to bed, I planted what I had for the container garden. I already had thyme, oregano, tarragon, and chives. I added sage (my eight year old sage died), two kinds of parsley, six tomato plants, lettuce, and strawberries. Two containers of hosta and one of flowers round out the garden. I have more containers to fill so I need to get out my books and see what I want to plant.
